Community Relations

Sierra Communications, as a subcontractor to ADI Technologies, of Alexandria, Virginia, was asked to be a part of the community relations team for the Navy's environmental cleanup program at the Hunters Point Naval Shipyard.

The shipyard is located in southeast San Francisco on the San Francisco Bay and is on the National Priorities List for cleanup and restoration. As part of its duties, Sierra Communications participated in the Naval Facilities Engineering Command Southwest Division's Community Information Fair, which was designed to present information to the community on a wide range of topics including an overview of the Hunters Point shipyard environmental cleanup strategy, the status of the cleanup process, and updates on significant technical issues.

Corporate Social Responsibility

As a part of Davis Instruments' Corporate Social Responsibility efforts, Sierra Communications was asked to spread the word nationally about new research involving children left alone in cars. Every year dozens of children tragically die due to hyperthermia (heatstroke) after being left unattended in cars, trucks and vans. Davis Insturments provided its wireless, consumer weather station technology for this key research.

Community Goodwill

As a part of a countywide effort invovling nine independent Tuolumne County churches, Sierra Communications was asked to secure media coverage for a special series of church services focused on the national best-seller, "The Purpose Driven Life."
