Sierra Communications, as a subcontractor to ADI Technologies, of Alexandria, Virginia, was asked to be a part of the community relations team for the Navy's environmental cleanup program at the Hunters Point Naval Shipyard.

The shipyard is located in southeast San Francisco on the San Francisco Bay and is on the National Priorities List for cleanup and restoration. As part of its duties, Sierra Communications has provided media training to Navy spokespeople as well as set up editorial board meetings with the San Francisco Bay Area press. It has also participated in the Naval Facilities Engineering Command Southwest Division's Community Information Fair, which was designed to present information to the community on a wide range of topics including an overview of the Hunters Point shipyard environmental cleanup strategy, the status of the cleanup process, and updates on significant technical issues.
